Hi! I have herpes type 2 && my boyfriend wants to pleasure me by eating me out.If I allow him will he get herpes on his mouth?
It’s possible. You can spread genital herpes during oral sex even if you aren’t showing any herpes symptoms at the time. But herpes is most contagious during an outbreak, when sores are open, moist, or leaking fluid.
Herpes simplex virus type 2 — also known as HSV-2 — is one of two different viruses that can cause herpes. Genital herpes are most often caused by HSV-2, whereas oral herpes is most often caused by herpes type 1 — HSV-1. But either version of the virus can infect either area of the body.
If you want to reduce the risk, a dental dam or Sheer Glyde dam might be your best bet. A dental dam is a piece of plastic that can be stretched over your genitals during oral sex to act as a barrier between you and your partner. It’s also a good idea to avoid any kind of sexual contact during an outbreak, and for seven days after the sores heal. You can also ask your doctor or nurse about using herpes treatments to further reduce the risk of spreading herpes to your partner.
