hi i need to know if its bad to b 12 yearsold and know that im a lesbian i have a 13yearold girlfriend
There’s nothing bad or wrong about knowing you’re a lesbian at any age.
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and straight are sexual orientations. Our sexual orientation is about who we’re attracted to sexually. A woman who is sexually attracted to other women often calls herself a lesbian. A man who is sexually attracted to other men often calls himself gay. People who are attracted to both women and men often called themselves bisexual. And people who are attracted to people of the other sex often call themselves straight.
Why do we say “often”? Because some people don’t think these labels describe them accurately. Some people don’t like the idea of labels at all.
All these sexual orientations are perfectly normal. Scientists are not yet sure exactly what causes someone to be lesbian, gay, bisexual, or straight, but recent research shows that there are biological factors in place before birth that influence people’s sexual orientation. Many people know their sexual orientation when they are still children. It takes a lifetime for many others to understand theirs. Either way is OK.
I noticed under the “Ask The Experts” section, there are no names as to who these “experts” are. Why is that? This isn’t some random person answering these questions is it?
The Planned Parenthood Federation of America staff members who answer these questions are dedicated to giving you the facts about sex so that you can use this information to make your own responsible choices. We provide honest and nonjudgmental information about sexuality in language you can understand with the hope that you will use this knowledge to reduce your risk of unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.

So, who are these experts? I don’t believe the response answers this question appropriately, and I am not sure if I want my son or daughter receiving a response from someone who is NOT an expert in their field.
The experts are a team of sexual health experts in the Communications, Education, and Medical Divisions of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Team advisers include doctors, nurses, and MPHs.
